In the 1870 census, she is listed as age 11 and working in a paper mill.
Married 8 February 1880 in Northampton
Died of Senile Gangrene of the Leg, Arteriosclerosis
Mary probably was a diabetic. According to my mother (her granddaughter), she got a blister on her foot but didn't feel it (? peripheral neuropathy) until it was seriously infected. By the time she went to the doctor, she had developed gangrene. When the doctor wanted to amputate her leg she refused as she "came into this world with two legs, and was going out the same way".
