FRANKLIN — Helen E. Bogatay, 82, of Franklin, died at 11:42 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the Girard Medical Center at Girard, Kansas.
Mrs. Bogatay was born July 31, 1929, at Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Purdy. She lived in Pittsburg until she married Emil Bogatay on Feb. 19, 1949. They lived their whole married life in Franklin, Kansas, before Emil's untimely death in February 1979. She truly loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons and their families. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, sone grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside servies will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at the St. Mary's Cemetery at Pittsburg with Pastor Don Talent officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedene Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Pittsburg, Kansas Humane Society, 487 E. 560th Avenue, Pittsburg, Kansas 66762-7237. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
