Helen Rachel Edna Yerks was born October 8, 1918 in Maine Prairie Township, MN to Arthur Julius and Bertha Anna Marie Thiede Yerks.

She attended and graduated from Kimball High School in 1938.

Helen married Raymond William Herman Groskreutz on June 21, 1938 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. Together they lived in the Litchfield area all their married life. Raymond passed away on March 4, 1985. Helen and Raymond were members of St. Paul's Evangelical Free Church in Litchfield.

Helen is survived by three sons, Raymond and Darlene, Robert and Arlene, and Richard and Judith all of Litchfield. She is also survived by two daughters, Donna and Roger Gilsrud of Benson and Darlene and John Carlson of Cokato, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Also surviving are one sister Fern and John Groskreutz of Litchfield, two brothers, Don and Mavis Yerks and Leslie and Judi Yerks both of Minneapolis. One sister-in-law Janet Yerks of Cross Lake, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Ray, one daughter Shirley Ellis, and one brother Marvin Yerks.
