ASPERMONT — Ara Marquis, 96, went to be with her Lord Wednesday morning at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Church of Christ in Aspermont officiated by Pastor Tom Long with burial to follow in the Aspermont Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mrs. Marquis was born in Portales, NM. She married Joe F. Marquis August 5, 1928 in Aspermont. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1982. Mrs. Marquis owned and operated M & K Variety Store in Aspermont for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her daughter, Floye Kenady and husband George of Lubbock; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eva Kolb, on January 12, 1996.
