Born in Florida to John and Lillie Mickler, he had lived in Orange for the past 15 years where he was self-employed as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Madison Lodge #126 AF & AM, and was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He was survived by his wife, Louise Mickler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Robbie Kelcher and Marilyn and Paul Perritt; three brothers, Bob Mickler, John Mickler, Jr. and Dick Mickler; three sisters, Evelyn Driggers, Dorothy Abbott and Trudy Williams; five grandchildren, Shawn, Courtney, Petra, James and Ashley; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services at the Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Reverend James Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur.
