He was born in St. Mary's, Ohio, and moved to Delaware County as a boy with his parents, Edgar and Lillian Whetstone Botkin. He attended Muncie city schools.
Mr. Botkin was associated with Muncie Water Works 46 years prior to his retirement in 1965. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Eastern Indiana Fruit Growers Association, and Travelers Protective Association.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Beiersdorfer Botkin; a son, William E. Botkin; three grandsons, Dennis Anthony, William Andrew, and Timothy Alan Botkin, all of Muncie; and a sister, Mrs. Daniel Collins, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Father M. Joseph McDonnell will celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's Church 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meeks Mortuary from 3 until 5 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at the mortuary 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
