Henry John Bruxvoort was born to Brand and Dirkje Veldhuizen Bruxvoort on November 30, 1893 at Ede The Netherlands. He moved with his family to Sully, Iowa in 1895 and to Crookston, Minnesota in 1907. They moved to Chandler in 1915 and Henry entered the United States Army in 1917 serving in France during World War I. He was married to Lucy Meyer on January 6, 1920. Their marriage was blessed with five children.
They farmed in the Chandler area until retirement and moved to their present Chandler home in 1969.
He served the Chandler Reformed Church for many years as elder and Sunday School and Catechism teacher. He also served on the board of the Chandler Public School.
He passed away at the Arnold Memorial Nursing Home in Adrian, Minnesota on May 27, 1980 at the age of 86 years, five months and 27 days.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy and their children, Dorothy (Mrs. John Moret) of Maringouin, LA., Nellie, (Mrs. Wallace Dierenfeld), Harvey and Pauline (Mrs. Dick Blom) of Chandler and Frances, (Mrs. James Veldkamp) of Luverne, Minnesota.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great grandchild, one brother and seven sisters.
