Mrs. J. P. Johnson, 93, Dies at Good Shepherd Home

Mrs. J. P. Johnson, age 93, passed away May 30, 1962 at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair. Mrs. Johnson had resided for nearly 63 years on College Drive.

Elizabeth Compton was born June 20, 1868 on a homestead near Kennard, Nebraska and has spent all of her life in Washington County.

On May 31, 1888 Elizabeth Compton was united in marriage to Layton W. Greeno. Mrs. Greeno passed away October 1898. Mrs. Elizabeth Greeno and John P. Johnson were married July 14, 1912 in Blair and made their home on College Hill. Mr. Johnson was one of Blair’s first tailors and after his death Mrs. Johnson still resided on College Hill up to a year and a half ago when she moved to the Good Shepherd Home.

Survivors include two sons, Dan Greeno, of Blair, and A. C. “Bert” Greeno of Abbotsford, Canada, who has been in Blair since their mother became ill May 1, and one daughter, Mrs. Neil Carter, of Blair; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at the Free Methodist Church with Rev. Eugene Smith and J. Bedford officiating. The Bendorf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Serving as pallbearers will be Art Johnson, William Jensen, Einar Vig, John Ellingsen, Oscar Jensen and Tony Hansen.
