Hampton Funeral Service Obituary:
Anna Cox Hayes, age 90, of 287 Bamboo Road, Boone, passed into the eternal loving arms of Jesus, to meet her beloved husband, Monday evening, October 31, 2011 at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living.
Mrs. Hayes was born February 16, 1921 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Virgil and Vixie Triplett Cox. Anna was Postmistress, for 30 years, at the Triplett Post Office. Her giving nature was manifested by her volunteer service at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by three daughters, Marcella Henderson and husband Buster, and Carol Teague and husband David, all of Boone, and Gayle Wright and husband Frank of Dallas, Texas; one son, Donald T. Hayes and wife Ruth of Boone; three granddaughters, Sherry Dockery and husband Reverend Tim Dockery of Valdese, Pam Riley and husband Rob of Taipei, Taiwan, and Paige Wright of Dallas, Texas; four grandsons, Michael Teague and wife Nancy of Boone, Chris Teague and wife Karen of Creedmoor, Eric Henderson and wife Kim of Boone, and Matthew Wright of Dallas, Texas, and one sister, Nina Jenkins of Deep Gap. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lane Hayes; two sisters, Cleo Wheeler and Linda Carlton, and one brother, Lloyd Cox.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Hayes will be conducted Friday afternoon, November 4, 2011, at 2:00 o'clock, at Mount Ephriam Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Tim Dockery and Reverend Kenny Newberry. Burial will follow in the Simmons Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times, friends may call at the home of a daughter, Marcella and Buster Henderson, 121 Olancha Avenue, Boone.
