The passing of Mrs. J. Greenwell has added another name to the list of Oregon pioneers who have gone beyond during the year of 1912.

Although a sufferer for several months with dropsy,Mrs. Greenwell never complained and passed peacefully away at her home in Lents,Portland,on Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock,November 19.

Mrs. Greenwell was born in the state of Iowa March 22,1846 and came with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Grimm,across the plains in 1852 to Oregon,at that time being only three (?) years of age.
Having made the trip safely by ox team the family located along the Clackamas river near Damascus,known as the Jake Grimm donation land claim,where many of the old pioneers will remember the fire in the slashing which burned steadily for sixteen years.Mrs. Greenwell was the last to leave the old homestead,she moved to Portland about four years ago.

Mrs. Greenwell's maiden name was Jerusha Grimm and she was united in marriage at Damascus,to B.F. Greenwell,son of a well known Oregon pioneer.

The deceased was the mother of twelve children,10 of whom survive and are as follows: Mrs. Eugene Roberts of Oregon city,Mrs. Fannie Gatenbein of Portland,Miss Annie Greenwell,Miss Elsie Greenwell of Portland,Mrs. Louisa Wade of Clackamas,Warren Greenwell of Woodstock;John Greenwell of South Bend,Washington;Henry Greenwell of Lowell,Washington;George Greenwell and Roy Greenwell of Portland.
She is also survived by her sisters,Ivy Straight of Oregon City;Mrs. Julia Young of Milwaukee;one brother,John Grimm of Cardon,Ohio,24 grandchildren.

The funeral services,which were held at the Christian Church at Lents on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock,was largely attended by many friends of the deceased.
The interment was in the Damascus cemetery and the remains laid by the side of her husband,who died at Damascus about 10 years ago.

mother of 10 children, all living, and a
pioneer of 1852. The funeral services will
be held at the Lents Christian Church at
10 A.M. Thursday, Nov. 21. Friends invited.

PIONEER OF 1852 DIED AT LENTS. ---

home, 114 Seventh avenue, at Lents,
Tuesday. She was 67 years and 7
months old, and was a pioneer of 1852.
Ten children survive her. The funeral
will be held today at 10 A.M. at the
Lents Christian Church. Interments
will be made in the Damascus Cemetery,
near where she formerly lived.
