Anna Sedlacek, nee Svoboda, was born May 12, 1868 at Nosislav, Moravia, Czechoslovakia. On May 16, 1888 she was united in marriage to Joseph Sedlacek. In 1906 she came with her husband and family to America, settling on a farm near Blue Rapids, Kansas. Later they removed to a farm near Pender where they resided until two years ago when they became residents of Pender.
Mrs. Sedlacek was a devoted wife and mother ever ready to give the best of herself for her family and friends. Her life was one of beautiful Christian devotion. She spent much time reading her old prayer books from which she derived much comfort. Her sweet personality and sincerity won her many friends.
She passed away Sunday afternoon April 14, 1926, leaving to mourn her deparature three sons, Vldjmer, Joseph and Frank, four daughters, Mrs. John Stammer, Mrs. Lloyd Grothe, Ann and Christine, her husband, her brother Frank Svoboda of Ft. Calhoun and five grandsons and one granddaughter, and a host of friends.
The services were held at the First Presbyterian church of Pender, Rev. Joseph Havlik of Clarkson and Dr. B.M. Long of Pender officiating. Interment was held at the Rosehill cemetery, Pender. The Times joins the community in extending sympathy.
