The Lawrence (Missouri) County Record, Oct. 11, 2006: 'Vera Louise West, 83, Mt. Vernon, died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center.

She was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Worth County to Hallie Edward and Laura Luella (Killingsworth) Armstrong. She was a retired housekeeper at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Vernon, a homemaker, and a member of King's Way Christian Church, Mt. Vernon.

She married Lonas Avery West in Cassville Oct. 16, 1941. He died Aug. 24, 1976.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita Garoutte, Mt. Vernon; four sons, Ronnie and Larry West, both of Mt. Vernon, Gary West, Wentworth, and Jack West, Miller; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Services were Monday, Oct. 9, in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Bob Holman officiating. Burial was in Goss Cemetery, northwest of Mt. Vernon.'
