When I read it in the newspaper that Christoph, a very dear friend and once a true love of mine, has sadly passed away, leaving behind his loving wife Dagmar and his children Kevin, Jan and Katy, I was totally shocked and actually still am unable to believe that this is true. How someone that dear and kind could just pass away from a heart-attack, I shall never understand this.

Christoph was my sweetheart and an absolutely caring and wonderful young man at the time when my dad had his first stroke. And while he was working hard for his money, he never hesitated to travel from work straight to the hospital to visit my dad and take my mother home (mom never had a driver license), he would not expect a thing and all he did was help - somehow, Christoph was born to help.

After a while, I noticed that the love had given way to a deep friendship, the quality of which was solid and loving - and I was over the moon with joy when years later, he met his future wife and shared that joy with his old friend, me.

We never lost touch, although contact was irregular. After all, his priorities were his work, to make sure his family was always well off, as well as his beloved voluntary work with the fire brigade.

Right now, all I know is without any doubt that Christoph has got a very special place in heaven. And very probably my mom and dad have given him a good and loving hug.

Rest in peace, my dear friend, I shall never forget your smile and your incredible unselfishness.
