William D. Challenger, 85, of Dillsburg, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Gettysburg Center. He was the husband of Martha (Barger) Challenger.
He was born October 2, 1926 in Harrisburg, the son of the late Russell and Elvina Challenger.
He taught art in the Harrisburg School District for many years, and was a former treasurer of the Harrisburg Teacher's Federal Credit Union. He attended Memorial Lutheran Church in Harrisburg.
In addition to his wife Martha, William is survived by a son, Kent D. Challenger, Sr and his life companion, Kathy Eckert of York Springs, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister, Jane Spear of Birmingham, AL. He was predeceased by a brother, Ted Challenger.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin with Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. Burial will be in East Berlin Union Cemetery.
