Dolores Joy Berg was born in Morris, MN on October 16, 1928 to Harry and Ella Juergenson. They had a farm 5 miles west of Cyrus. She attended the rural Stone School House and was proud to carry the world globe into the school on its inauguration day. As her father farmed with work horses, Dolores learned to ride and taught her riding horses to do tricks. Dolores graduated from Morris High School and began her bookkeeping career at the Cyrus Farmer's Elevator.

After being courted on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, she married Allan Herbert Berg on October 28, 1950. Allan joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alabama. Their first child, Bryan Lee Berg, was born September 2, 1952 in Alabama. After Allan ended his service career, they moved to St. Paul, MN and Allan worked in the Federal Arsenal plant. Their second child, Bradley John was born in Morris, MN on November 27, 1953. The family moved to Lake Minnewaska in Starbuck, MN and Allan worked at a service station. Eric Alan was born on February 20, 1955. They moved to Cyrus, MN where they owned and operated the Berg Oil Co. for many years. Susan Carol was born June 19, 1957.

The Berg family competed at horse show events and other horse related activities. Dolores was fortunate to own and show a sorrel mare named Shannon. Dolores believed Shannon was her horse of a lifetime and the two shared a deep bond.

Dolores continued to do seasonal work for the Cyrus Elevator and started driving school bus for Cyrus Schools in 1984. Her husband, Allan, passed away on September 4, 1987.

Dolores loved to watch westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne. She also enjoyed the music of the Sons of the Pioneers, and Liberace, and was thrilled to attend one of his final concerts. Dolores loved to camp and travel with relatives, friends, and her special friend, Burdell Barsness. A favorite location was Green Lake at Spicer, MN.
