Born November 3, 1936 in Provo, Utah; a son of Verl Ashton and Grace Hirst Brereton. Married Barbara Dean Ericksen, September 23, 1954 in Spanish Fork, Utah. Owned and operated J.B. Sheet Metal Company for over 20 years. Owned and operated Dee's Spiral Pipe and Fittings, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
Survived by wife, Bennion; one daughter, Mrs. Dave (Debora) Reynolds, Calif.; three sons, Bruce James, Thane Joseph and wife Lynn, both of West Valley City and Troy John, Bennion; 11 grandchildren; mother, Grace Crippen, Payson; parents-in-law, Bus and Mary Dean Ericksen, Spanish Fork; three brothers and seven sisters, Kayle, Jack, Steven, Colleen, Nedra, Glenda, Carol, Deane, Marsh, Marilyn. Preceded in death by father; son, Dee Verl; granddaughter, Jamie Lynn; brother, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon at the Bennion Ward Chapel, 5775 South 2700 West. Friends may call Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church 10:30-11:40 a.m. Interment Valley View Memorial Park.
