JAY, Okla. — Josie Mary Barton, 88, Arkoma, formerly of Jay, died Tuesday morning at her home after an accident in her home. Mrs. Barton was born Jan. 12, 1904, in the state of Oklahoma. She moved to Arkoma from Jay in 1967. She was a retired cook. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Arkoma. She married Joseph Barton on Jan. 17, 1922, at Fort Smith, Ark. He died in 1983. Survivors include a son, Melvin Barton, Arkoma; a daughter, Marie LaFond, Arkoma; a brother, Marvin Frasier, Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sherman-Schrag Funeral Home, Jay. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Jay. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
