Mrs. Nina Briles Barnard, 85, of Grapevine passed away Monday, October 17, 2011, at a Grapevine hospital. She was born December 6, 1925, in Bee Creek near Italy, daughter of the late James Otis and Bertha Huffstuttler Briles Sr. Soon after Nina was born, her family moved to Milford, where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from Milford High School in 1942 and went to work for the Milford Press newspaper. On November 11, 1946, she married Alvis Boyd Barnard and became a devoted mother and hardworking farmer's wife. Nina was an excellent cook and enjoyed providing food during family gatherings. She sang in the church choir for several years and was known for her kind spirit and graciousness. She was a member of Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene.

Preceding her in death were two sons, Robert Dan Barnard and Leslie Ray Barnard; one brother, James Otis Briles Jr.; one sister, Margaret Briles Schroeder; and one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Bradford.

Survivors include: her husband, Alvis Boyd Barnard of Grapevine; one daughter, Linda Bradford and husband, Tim, of Southlake; one grandson, Jonathan Bradford and wife, Robin, of Justin; one brother, Rev. Robert H. Briles and wife, Irene, of Weatherford; two nieces; and two nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Randy Anderson officiating. Burial was at Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 6801 Sanger Avenue, Suite 102, Waco, TX 76710; or Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, P. O. Box 572, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
