Betsy Van Liew of Middlebush wrote in a contemporary journal: "I was at the funeral of Simon Addis, at Six-Mile Run. Rev. Dr. Westbrook preached from Proverbs, 16th chapter, 8th verse, — 'The hoary head is a crown of glory if it be found in the way of righteousness.' " A new marker was placed on his grave by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1932. He is listed in the Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Volume 1, Serial Number 9787; Volume 5.
