Rosa Alaniz, from Corpus Christi, Texas has departed her earthly body after a long and courageous battle with Alheimers to be with the Lord on November 1, 2011.

Rosa was born in Houston, Texas on December 29, 1924. She was a lifelong residence of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in Beeville, Texas.

Survivors include her son, Mark A. Smith (Odie) & family from Sugar Land, Texas., and a daughter Stella Vasquez (Miguel) and family from Coleman, Texas. She is also survived by a brother, Luis Fuentes & family from Enterprise, Alabama, a sister Jo Ethel Valdez & family from Beeville, Texas, a sister Gloria Medinilla and family from Camarillo California, and sister Estella Aguilar and family from Houston Texas; grandchildren: Michael Patrick Smith (Amanda) from Richmond, Texas, Mark A. Smith II from Corpus Christi, Texas, SSG Mathew James Smith (Nena) from FT. Hood, Texas, Rosalinda Vasquez-King (Thomas), Miguel George Vasquez, Jessica Ann Vasquez, Joshua Louis Vasquez from Coleman, Texas; great grandchildren: Michael Patrick Smith II, Christopher James Smith, Katalina Marie Smith from Richmond, Texas, Analea Nicole Smith from Ft. Hood, Texas, Anthony Garcia and Aliyah Vasquez from Coleman, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at Guardian Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga with burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
