Mrs. Anderson was the 3rd child of Levi and Margaret Smith Capps. She married Emmett Anderson Jan 11, 1914.

Frances and Emmett came to IL when she was 26 years old (1918) and resided in Chatsworth before settling in St. Joseph in 1926.

Mrs. Anderson was killed instantly when struck by an auto as she was crossing route 10 at the west edge of St Joseph near her home.

St. Joseph Woman Killed on Rt. 10 St Joseph
Mrs. Nora Frances Anderson, 64, was instantly killed at 5:15p.m. Wednesday when struck by an auto as she was crossing Route 10 at the west edge of St. Joseph near her home.The auto, westbound on Route 10 was driven by Arthur Nielsen, 28 of Champaign, a salesman who was en route to his home from Danville. Deputy Coroner Charles Wycoff of Champaign County said Mrs. Anderson had alighted from an auto which had brought her from her work at the Cap and Gown co. in Champaign. The driver of this car had driven away and was apparently unaware of the accident.The deputy coroner said he learned Mrs. Anderson looked both ways and then started to cross the highway, apparently not seeing the approaching car.

Born Feb. 20, 1892, at Berksville, Ky., Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of Levi and Margaret Smith Capps. She was married to Emmett Anderson, Jan 11, 1914, who survives. She came to Illinois at the age of 26 and lived at Chatsworth until coming to St. Joseph in 1926.

Surviving besides the husband are seven children, Mrs. Florence Penner of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Willa Mae Griffith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Sara Ann Rasner of Lebanon, Ind., Mrs. Mary Thompson of Urbana, Paul Anderson of Decatur, James Anderson of Normal, and William Anderson of Champaign and several grandchildren.The Freese Funeral Service ambulance rushed to the scene of the accident, driven by Russel Maddock, but when Mrs. Anderson was pronounced dead the body was taken to the Jeanes Funeral Home in Homer where arrangements are incomplete.

Rites Held for Accident VictimSt Joseph - Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Frances Anderson, 64, who was fatally injured Feb. 29, when hit by a car on Route 10, were held Saturday in the Jeanes Funeral Home in Homer. Rev. Alan Simpson of the Fairmount Baptist Church officiated and burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview.
