David C. Yakey, son of Jacob Yakey, was born May 31, 1830 in Virginia, died February 23, 1908 in Vernon County, Wisconsin, aged 77 years, 8 months and 22 days, and was buried in the family plot in the Salem Ridge Cemetery, Avalanche, Vernon County, Wisconsin.

On September 29, 1867, in Vernon County, Wisconsin, David was united in marriage to Julia Ann Adams, born February 1, 1843, in Ohio, daughter of John Adams and Mary Jane Campbell. She died January 22, 1918 in Vernon County, Wisconsin, aged 74 years, 11 months and 21 days, and was buried there in the family plot in the Salem Ridge Cemetery. Their eight children, probably all born in Vernon County, Wisconsin, were:

"He enlisted as a corporal in the 25th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and was enrolled at Eau Claire in the spring of 1862. The regiment served in the campaigns for Vicksburg, Miss.; Atlanta, Ga.; and Sherman's March through Georgia and the Carolinas.
