According to her obituary published in the New Jersey Herald (Newton, NJ) July 24, 1880, Carrie died of consumption. She had been rapidly failing for several weeks prior to her death. Her obituary states he was a splendid singer and organist. The funeral took place on Sunday (July 20, 1880)at the M.E. Church in Dingman's Ferry, PA
