Mrs. Lois Sheets Figgatt Derrick, 77, died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on Oct. 31, 2011. She was born in Mount Sidney on Oct. 17, 1934, and was the daughter of Clarence and Alice Rowe Sheets.

On Feb. 15, 1953, she married Walter (Sonny) Figgatt, of Harrisonburg, at Salem Lutheran Church, Mount Sidney. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1989.

She is survived by the Rev. John L. Derrick, who she married on Nov. 28, 1998.

Also surviving are three children and their families, Steve Figgatt and his wife, Joanna, and children, Marcus, Sarah and Brandon, of Harrisonburg, Eric Figgatt of Harrisonburg, and Sandra Ruckman and daughter, Mandy, and her father, Michael Ruckman Jr., of Harrisonburg. Also surviving are stepchildren, John A. Derrick and his wife, Marci, and their sons, Scott and Austin, of Park Ridge, Ill., the Rev. David Derrick and his wife, the Rev. Kelly Derrick, and their sons, Tyler, Drew, and Reece, of Roanoke; Paul Derrick and his wife, Kati, and their children, Anna and Eli, of Harrisonburg.

In addition, Lois is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Dottie) Hall and her husband, Charles, of Harrisonburg; a brother, Jim Sheets and his wife, Rosemary, of Staunton; seven nieces and nephews; an uncle, the Rev. Weldon Sheets of Newton, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jo Austin and her daughter, Debi, of Williamsburg.

Lois graduated from Mount Sidney High School in 1952. Later that year, she was employed at First American Bank, in Harrisonburg. She continued working in banking for 30 years and then worked for Rockingham Eye Physicians until retirement. She volunteered at the RMH gift shop for 10 years.

Lois was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church from 1953 until her death. During this time, she served as a Sunday school teacher, a youth adviser, a member of the choir, as well as on numerous committees.

The funeral will be held at Muhlenberg at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, with Pastors Bob Humphrey and Dave Nelson officiating. A committal service will be held at 4 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, Mount Sidney.

There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, held at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, and also in the gathering area following Saturday's service.
