The 1895 state census for Kenyon Township, Goodhue County, MN shows Andreas and Guri Bjelde, both age 50, Nils age 25, Guttorm age 16 and Gerhard age 10 living and farming there. Andreas is shown to be a teacher and Gerhard is living with their neighbors, the Nelson family. He is a farm laborer.
By 1900 the Federal Census shows them living in Norman County, Lee Township, MN. Andreas is now listed as a farmer and his wife, Guri, and four children, Peter A., Guttorm, Malla and Andrias Gerhard, live together. Land records show they live and farm in Section 29 of Lee Township just east of Perley. In 1905 the state census shows Gerhard still living with his parents, but their older children, Nils and Anna have joined them.
Guri's grave marker shows she died 19 Jun 1908, but the Minnesota Death Index shows that she died 15 Jun 1908. There is no funeral for Guri found in the Bethania Ministerial Records.
An examination of church book entries from Aurland, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, shows that Andreas returned to Norway following Guri's death. He is listed as having married Ingeborg Andersdatter of "Norman County Min. USA" on 22 June 1909 in Norway. Ingeborg is listed as having been born in 1853, daughter of Anders Anderssen Veum. Andreas and Ingeborg are listed as passengers on the SS Mauretania manifiest for a July 1909 voyage from Liverpool to Ellis Island, NY.
Aurland, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway church book entries also show that Andreas passed away on 29 Feb 1932, and was buried on 8 Mar 1932. He would have been nearly 87 at the time of his death.
