Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor recipient. He enlisted for service at South Bend, Indiana and was a Artificer in Company B, 45th Infantry, U.S. Army Volunteers. At Labo Luzon, Philippine Islands, on May 29, 1900, at great personal risk he voluntarily passed through enemy lines and brought relief to besieged comrades.
