PRETTY CHURCH WEDDING HELD AT ST. PATRICKS
This morning at St. Patrick's church Miss Anna Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Phillips, became the bride of James Lanigan. The ceremony was performed by Rev. James Bulger.The couple were attended by Miss Julia Lanigan sister and Timothy Lanigan brother of the groom.
The bride was prettily attired in white and carried red roses. Mrs. Lanigan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Phillips of South Ottumwa and has scores of friends.
Mr. Lanigan is an employee of the Milwaukee freight house. Mr. and Mrs. Lanigan left to Des Moines and several other points on a wedding trip. They will be home after Jun 10.
Grandmas father was a coal miner in Monroe CO IA. She often told us stories of riding the buggy to Albia & Smokey Hollow to play the piano for dances.

Mrs. Anna Lanigan 77 of Davenport and a former Ottumwan died at Mercy Hospital at Davenport Monday at 10:21 p.m.
She was the daughter of James Matthew (Matt)and Elizabeth Mc Dermott Phillips and was born in Mineral City, Ohio on September 23, 1886. She had spent most of her life in Ottumwa until moving to Davenport 13 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's parish at Ottumwa and St. Anthony's parish of Davenport. Her marriage to James Aloysious Lanigan took place in 1912 at Ottumwa. He died in 1952.
Survivors include two sons, James Matthew Lanigan of Davenport and Timothy Edward Lanigan of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Clara Phillips Harlan of Ottumwa and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one son whom died at birth and one daughter Mary Elizabeth who died as a infant.
The service will be Thursday at Vaughn Funeral Home and at 9:00 at St. Mary's with Father Cullinan officiating the Requiem High Mass. Buril will be at Calvary Cemetery at Ottumwa.
Pallbearers will be Harry Clark SR, Harry Clark JR, Mike Clark, Jerry Clark, Jim Hartley and Nick Fiscella. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home this evening at 8 o'clock.

Mrs. Anna Lanigan 77 of Davenport and a former Ottumwan died at Mercy Hospital at Davenport Monday at 10:21 p.m.
She was the daughter of James Matthew (Matt)and Elizabeth Mc Dermott Phillips and was born in Mineral City, Ohio on September 23, 1886. She had spent most of her life in Ottumwa until moving to Davenport 13 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's parish at Ottumwa and St. Anthony's parish of Davenport. Her marriage to James Aloysious Lanigan took place in 1912 at Ottumwa. He died in 1952.
Survivors include two sons, James Matthew Lanigan of Davenport and Timothy Edward Lanigan of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Clara Phillips Harlan of Ottumwa and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one son whom died at birth and one daughter Mary Elizabeth who died as a infant.
The service will be Thursday at Vaughn Funeral Home and at 9:00 at St. Mary's with Father Cullinan officiating the Requiem High Mass. Buril will be at Calvary Cemetery at Ottumwa.
Pallbearers will be Harry Clark SR, Harry Clark JR, Mike Clark, Jerry Clark, Jim Hartley and Nick Fiscella. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home this evening at 8 o'clock.
P.S. Marriage records give my grandma's birth date as Sept. 23 and tombstone picture shows her being born in 1888. Death certificate says she was born Sep 23, 1886.
