Lloyd A. Deininger

Lloyd A. Deininger, age 92 of Monroe, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his home. He was born in Jefferson Township on the home farm on December 17, 1916, the son of Alfred and Julia (Ingold) Deininger.

He was a graduate of Monroe High School. Lloyd and Leona Nafzger were married on June 14, 1941 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Lloyd and Leona farmed in Jefferson Township before moving to Monroe in 1986.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, ushering for many years. He was a 50 year member and past Chancellor Commander of the Knights of Pythias, Ivanhoe Lodge #41. Lloyd won awards for being a pioneer in soil and water conservation and was active with the Green
County Soil and Water Conservation Service, also with the Richland Creek Watershed.

He was awarded the Centennial Farm Award, still maintaining the farm that was in the family for over 100 years. Lloyd was a former member of the Jefferson Township Board, board of directors for the 5 Corners Cheese Factory, Green County Farm Bureau, secretary for the Green County Fair, Green County Special Deputies and the Monroe Police Reserves.

He is survived by his sons, David L. (Lorraine) Deininger of Monroe, their son, Adam Deininger, John (Mary) Deininger of Hilliard, Ohio, their children, Emily (Gustavo) Lopez, John M. Deininger, Julia (Ryan) Delack; great-grandson, Michael Lopez; sisters, Lucille Brown, and Dorothy Dyreson; also nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his
parents and his wife, Leona.

Visitation and Funeral services were held at St. John's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiated, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A memorial fund has been established for St. John's United Church of Christ in Lloyd's memory. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home assisted the family.
