McElvy, 99, died Aug. 24, 1987, at Oak
Crest Inn Convalescent Inn.
McElvy was born Jan. n, 1888, to
John Louis and Mary Jereline (nee
Hillis) Schneider in Water Vally,
Miss. She married Ben Hurt McElvy
in Memphis, Tenn. He preceded her
in death. A housewife and member of
the University Christian Church in
San Antonio, McElvy was a New
Braunfels resident since 1982.
Survivors include one daughter,
Annie K Currie of Palestine; James
Edward McElvy of New Braunfels;
two grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren
and six great-greatgrandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Shifty. Services
are under the direction of Doeppenschmidt
Funeral Home.
