Ronald J. Blazer, 64, of Rockford, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in his home following a sudden illness.

He was born on February 19, 1947 in Harvard, Illinois; the son of Howard and Gladys (Rhodes) Blazer. Ron is a graduate of Marengo High School. He was married to Christine M. Madden in Sycamore, Illinois on June 9, 2000. He worked on the assembly line at Chrysler Corporation for 29 years before retiring. Ron attended Blaine United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and being outdoors. He was a supporter of the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Ron is survived by his wife, Christine; two sons, Matt and Doug Blazer, all of Rockford; a daughter, Carrie (Jack) Carney, of Boynton Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Brenna Blazer and Jullian Lopez; seven siblings, Gene Blazer, Bill (Linda) Blazer, Terry Blazer, Tim (Nancy) Blazer, Ricky Blazer, Karen Blazer, Denny (Essie) Blazer; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Gladys and Kay and a brother, Howard.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Blaine United Methodist Church, in rural Leroy Township with Pastor, Tom Hay, officiating. Burial in the Blaine Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av.
