Honey came to me on a cold fall evening a few days before Halloween in 1998. I was doing laundry and she sneaked in the open door. She sat under the desk and my ex husband said "We have company". I looked down and there was a skinny beautiful cat who just looked up and around like she was sizing the place up and decided to take it. She was with me for thirteen of the fourteen years of her life. I may not have been there for the beginning of her life, but I was there for the end. Her wonderful Vet came to the house. I had to let her go on ahead of me in October, fittingly a few days before Halloween. My face was the last thing she saw in this world. It seemed very peaceful. She was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in 2009. She was a fighter and lasted two years with this terrible disease. It went into remission and came raging back with a cruel fury about six weeks before she had to go. She fought so hard to stay with me. She loved life with a passion you'd swear was human. She always played with the pink and yellow toys first, and loved my Lingerie drawer, she is truly a girly kitty. I'll love her, miss her and think of her every day until I join her. She was just on loan to this world from Heaven for 14 years. I'm very grateful she chose me to live with for 13 of those years.
My baby girl is now with my family waiting for me.

I'll be there as soon as the good lord wills it Sweetheart, I promise.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together
Amen.

Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you

...no one will ever know.
