Police Officer Terry Lewis-Fleming was killed when her patrol car collided with another patrol car during a high speed pursuit.

Officers were pursuing a truck occupied by two men who had just committed an armed robbery, when Officer Lewis-Fleming's patrol car collided with the other patrol car at the intersection of East Residence Avenue and Blaylock Avenue. Officer Lewis-Fleming's car burst into flames upon impact.

The suspects continued to flee until their truck overturned a short distance away. Both men were arrested and charged with felony as a result of Officer Lewis-Fleming's death. They were also charged with multiple felony counts in connection with the armed robbery.

Officer Lewis-Fleming had served with the Albany Police Department for five years. She is survived by her husband and three children.

Mrs. Terry Mae Lewis Flemming was born on January 3, 1975 in Albany, GA to Terry Lewis Cobb and the late Homer Cobb II.

Mrs. Fleming was educated in the public school system of Terrell County and graduated from Albany Technical College in 2009 with a degree in Criminal Justice Technology. She also attended Troy University working towards her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. At an early age Terry joined Raines Baptist Church in Terrell County and later moved her membership to Gethsemane Worship Center, under the leadership of Dr. Frederick Williams.

Terry was married on June 18, 2011 to Mr. Henry Flemming III. Terry was employed by the Albany Police Department from May 5, 2006 where she dedicated her life as a public servant. Terry touched the lives of many and was well known for her beautiful smile and charming attitude.

On Friday, October 28, 2011, God called his angel, Terry, 36 home to rest. In addition to her father, Terry was preceded in death by a sister, Lee Ann Cobb and grandparents, Homer Cobb I and Mattie C. Cobb.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a devoted husband Henry L. Flemming III; three loving and caring sons, Sheundrecus Lewis, Cordarrius Lunsford, Cartavious Lunsford, three step-children, Brandon T. Flemming, Kanertia d. Flemming, Kavoskie J. Bell; her mother, Terry Lewis Cobb; two sisters, Mary Cobb (James), Diane Cobb-Taylor (Tyrone); three brothers, Eddie Cobb, Johnny Cobb (Candance) Homer Cobb, III (Tia); grandparents, Deloris Jackson, Abraham Lewis; sister in law, Annester Perry; three brother in laws, James Thompson, Sr. (Shaquanta), Lewis Moore, Leon Hicks (Dana); best friend of 17 years Tangella Butler and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

There will be a candle light vigil, Thursday 7:30 PM at the Amphitheater at River Front Park.
