Parents: John and Beatrice (Peck) Porter.

At a young age their family came to the Salem, Oregon, area where she attended schools at Stayton.

She was united in marriage to Stuart Clayson on May 7, 1947.

The early 1960s brought them to the Myrtle Creek, Oregon, area. For approximately 30 years they owned and operated the Clayson Mini-Mill 9 miles out on South Myrtle Road. Besides raising and caring for her family she performed all the office work for the mill.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stuart in 1989; a brother, Jack Porter; sister, Jeanie Ripp; and granddaughter, Angela Moore.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie and her husband, Bud Moore and son, Jim Clayson, all of Myrtle Creek; son, Jerry and his wife, Ann of Trail, Oregon; Jeannette and her husband, Don Powell of Fortine, Montana; and 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 28 at 2 p.m. at the IOOF Cemetery in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, with Reverend Stanley Brown of the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Creek officiating.
