Margarette C. Ashworth, 75, of Chase City, met her lord and savior on Oct. 21, 2011.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1936 to the late Earl and Alma Carter.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis, one son, Keith Ashworth and his wife, Jeanne, four grandchildren, Shannon McAden, Daniel Ashworth, Jill Ashworth, and Kristin Sutton, three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, and Hayden, and one brother, Wayne Carter.

She is predeceased by her brother, Wilbert Carter, her daughter, Gwendolyn Ashworth, and grandson, Jason McAden.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Interment followed at Mount Horeb Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 383, South Hill, VA 23970-0383.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ivy Altomare, Dr. Graham Powers, and the Hundley Annex Nursing Staff for their compassion and care.
