Mrs. Ruth Coonrod, 77, life long resident of White county, died at her home near Sitka Thursday afternoon, April 28, at 2 o'clock. She had been confined to her home by illness for the past four weeks but her condition was not critical until last Tuesday when she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never regained consciousness.
Mrs. Coonrod was born in Monan township in 1871, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Pollock. In 1882 she was married to David Coonrod, now dead.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Geneva Bailey, Danivlle, Ill., Mrs. Edith Evernham, Waverly, Ind., Mrs. Stella Gerard, South Bend, and Mrs, Ina Englert, Gary: two sons, Guy Coonrod, Liberty township, and Harold Coonrod, South Bend; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives. Two children preceded the mother in death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Sitka church Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the G.A. Stephan funeral home in charge. Burial was made in the Sitka cemetery.
