Corine Fresquez Gaona, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Sunday July 22, 2007. She is survived by her children, John Gaona and wife, Martha of Albuquerque, David Gaona and wife, Cynthia of Albuquerque and Phillip Gaona; grandchildren, Jillian Gaona, Christopher Gaona, Kenneth Gaona, Ashley Gaona, Richard Gaona, Jenna Gaona, Megan Gaona, all of Albuquerque, and Kalee and Derek Mitchell from San Angelo, TX; sisters, Mary Lou Valdez and husband, Joseph, and Elia Slater and husband, Ron; brothers, Ernest Fresquez and wife, Lena Jo, and Sammy Fresquez; nieces and nephews, Anthony Gallegos, Orlando Gallegos, Larry Gallegos, Jerry Gallegos, Deborah Morton, Joseph Valdez, Montserrat Sloan, Carmen Gonzales, and Kay Gonzales; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Catalina Fresquez; sister, Elfides Gallegos; brothers, Leonard Fresquez and William Fresquez; friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Garcia. Corine was born in Winslow, AZ and was raised in Roswell, NM, until she moved to Albuquerque in 1946. She was married to John Gaona on June 11, 1949, and raised three sons. Corine was loved by her family, relatives, and friends and was always there for any who needed a little encouragement or love in return. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 26, 2007, 8:30 a.m., at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona St. SE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons, John, Phillip and David; her grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth and Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers, Ernest and Sammy; and her sisters, Elia and Mary Lou.
