Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Palmyra, MO. with Rev. David Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra, MO. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. JoAnne Sutton was born on June 14, 1932 at home in Palmyra, MO., the daughter of Joe L. and Gertrude A. (Lowe) Sutton. She graduated from the Palmyra High School in 1950. She attended Cosmetology school and worked as a beautician at the Palmyra Hotel Beauty Shop from 1951 to 1956. JoAnne then owned and operated the Powder Puff Beauty Shop from 1967 to 1986. She also did hair out of her home in Palmyra for several years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Palmyra, MO, had previously sung in the choir and for weddings and funerals. She was a member of the Federated Women's Club, Palmyra, Mo., Life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post # 11041, was a former member of the Republican Central Committee, played the piano, and enjoyed embroidery, painting, and doll collecting.
She was married to Harold E. Becker on December 16, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. A.J. Becker. Harold preceded her in death on February 3, 2010. Survivors include three sons; David and his wife Maureen (Smallwood) Becker, St. Louis, MO, Bryan and his wife Patricia (Callighan) Becker, Atchison, KS, and Paul and his wife Tonya (Hoover) Becker, Nortonville, KS, a brother; Donald (Polly) Sutton, Palmyra, MO, half brother; Glendale (Linda) Schaeffer, Hannibal, MO, and six grandchildren; Christina and her husband Aidan Dunleavy, Omaha, NE, Tim and his wife Sara Becker, Effingham, KS, Matthew and his wife Shannon Becker, Maryville, MO, and Andrew Becker, Nortonville, KS, Rachel Allen, Chicago, IL, and Kelly Carnal, Alexandria, VA, two great grandsons; Braedan Dunleavy, Omaha, NE, and Landon Becker, Effingham, KS, sisters-in-law's, Norma Schade, Palmyra, MO, Carolyn Myers, Palmyra, MO, and Emily Becker, Quincy, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
