George Albert Burns, born on Jan. 22, 1923, passed away June 24, 2008, at his home in Laredo, Texas. Albert ws born in Jourdanton, Atascosa County, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Espy Burns and Maggie Love Medlock; his wife of 59 years, Bessie Aleen "Snookie" Burns; and his son Lonnie Bill Burns. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Alice Kathleen Zimmerman and Arthur Orion Zimmerman of Laredo, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, James Albert Burns and Kathleen Marie Burns of Eustace, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Mae Levin and Jonathan Levin of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Albert served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. His main loves in life were his family, horses and cattle. He was one of the last of the real cowboys. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton, Texas. Visitation is at 10:00AM with graveside services following at Jourdanton City Cemetery.
