Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Reverends Tony Vilano and Eddie Morales officiating. Dorothy Weinheimer was the organist and Tilda Itz, the vocalist. Entombment was in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum.
Prior to the services, her body lay in state in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home where a St. Ann's Society rosary and vigil service conducted by Deacon Louis Loth were held at 7 p.m., on Monday.
Mrs. Jung was born on March 14, 1902 in Gillespie County, the daughter of John Kunz and Fransica Nebgen Kunz. She married Thomas Jung on Feb. 27, 1924 in St. Mary's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1983.
She is survived by the following children and their spouses, Viola and Harry Barsch and Herbert and Darlyn Jung, all of Fredericksburg; Jocelyn and George Jowers III of San Antonio; a daughter-in-law, Carol, Mrs. Clayton Jung of Fair Oaks; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Margaret Allen of Pflugerville; and two sisters-in-law, Josephine Stehling and Frieda Kunz Baisiolli, all of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Florence Jenschke and Clayton Jung; a sister, Alvina Weinheimer; a brother, Alfred Kunz; a brother-in-law, Hilmer Weinheimer, and a son-in-law, James Jenschke.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Pallbearers were Tim Barsch, George Jowers IV, Lynette Smith, Sharon Jung, Sean Jowers and Jared Jung. The grandchildren were honorary pallbearers.
