Movie Columnist. Born Louella Rose Oettinger, she was regarded as “The First lady of Hollywood”. From 1915 to 1960, her Hollywood gossip columns were read by over 20 million people in 600 newspapers worldwide. She also had her own featured radio shows on CBS (1931-34), ABC (1944-51) and back on CBS (1952-54). Her memoir "The Gay Illiterate" (1944) became a bestseller, followed by "Tell It to Louella" (1961). She even appeared in feature films and was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for radio and one for motion pictures. In addition, she is a recipient of a Golden Globe Award for Special Journalistic Merit. She died at age 91 in Santa Monica, California.
