Philanthropist. A chemist and business magnate, Grasselli helped to develop high-explosives manufacturing by introducing sodium sulfate (American saltcake) to the glass industry. The business he built grew to a worth of $30 million and was eventually merged with chemical giant Du Pont in 1928. Founder of Cleveland Museum of Art and Cleveland Institute of Music, Grasselli donated the family home to the Cleveland Society for the Blind.
