MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Authorities say a 72-year-old woman from Texas was accidentally killed at a Shelby County RV park when she was crushed trying to stop her camper from rolling away.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chip Washington said Sharon Bailey of Spring, Texas, was attempting to hitch her camper to the back of a truck at the site with her husband when the camper started to move.

Washington told The Commercial Appeal that Bailey ran to the front of the camper to try and hit the brakes. She was struck by a door on the camper and fell and was crushed by the camper, he said.

The couple had been in Memphis since Sunday and were visiting a relative in the area, he said.

Sharon Bailey was the mother of a High School classmate of mine. My heart goes out to the entire Bailey family.
