"Sarah Carr was the daughter of Calvin Luther Gill and Susan Bodiford. Her mother died when she was about 10, and she was raised by her stepmother, Fannie A. (McGlohen) Gill.

Susan was married three times, first to J. W. Moore in 1887, then to William Calvin Murphy in 1891, and finally to L. L. Carr in about 1902. She had several children, including William Calvin Murphy and Robert and Guy Carr."
