From the Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion: Private William Martin was age 20 when he entered service on 21 Aug 1862. He died 21 Jan 1863 in a hospital at St. Louis, Missouri. The Roll of Honor says that he is buried at St. Louis, Missouri in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in section 64 grave 134.
The official listing today has William T. J. MARTIN, died and buried 30 Jan 1863, at Jefferson Barracks National Cem, St Louis MO, Section 64, site 10954.

Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865: Wm T J MARTIN, Private Co F 120th OH Inf., died 30 Jan 1863 at General Hospital New House of Refuge, St. Louis MO. Cause: typhoides febris.


Believed to be the same person as the William J. T. Martin in Ashland Cemetery, Ashland OH.

So far in my research, I have three different death dates.

The date on the Ashland stone: 4 Feb 1863
