History•  Son of James and Eliza Laird. Thomas' remains were originally buried in the "Presbyterian Grounds". He was removed and interred at Spring Grove on April 26, 1848.∼Thomas was the son of Captain James Laird (1761-1846) and his second wife, Sarah Elizabeth (Watson) Laird (1772-1851). James was the son of William Laird (1727-1820) and Martha (Wilson) Laird (1730-1790).


Thomas' estate papers indicate he died about 1842.


Between 1842 and 1847, his wife, Mary Elton (Saffle) Laird had married Jacob Stauffer. They appear (with the Laird children) in the 1850 Census for Livingston County, Missouri. Jacob was 60 and Mary was 38. Her daughter, Elizabeth May (Laird) Anderson, was enumerated with her young family in the next household.

Gravesite Details

There is no individual marker for Thomas Laird in Section 74 Lot 34.
