Obituary:

"DWIGHT WARNER BROEMAN, Sr
Aug. 18, 1917-March 30, 2009

"Dwight lived life with a rare relish and gusto that was admired by many and will be remembered by all who knew him. As much as we regret his passing, we envy the 91-plus years he lived. Nobody could have done it better. In 1940, he married Ruth Risdon from Detroit, Michigan. Together, they had six children and resided in Miami Beach, Fla. With his many accomplishments, Dwight was often referred to by his children as the "Busy Bee." Mr. Broeman later married Marilyn Reelhorn from Columbus, Ohio, in 1962.

"In his youth, Dwight attended the Summit Country Day School and Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He later attended the University of Notre Dame [class of 1939], and graduated from the Law School at the University of Miami. During this time, Dwight also served in the U.S. Navy as a commander.

"While in the Miami [Florida] area, Mr. Broeman served as a local judge and later was elected mayor of Bal Harbour. During this time, Dwight enjoyed being one of the few distributors of Chrysler and Checker automobiles, and he also supplied Clark equipment to the Miami International Airport.

"Dwight was honored to be selected by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as one of the few American businessmen to meet with Nikita Khrushchev in Russia during the Cold War.

"In addition to being a lawyer, judge, and mayor, Mr. Broeman was the president of the Broeman Company, National Redevelopment Corporation, and Wiedmann Limited. Dwight was known for his many real estate developments in Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area.

"With his 'busy' spirit, he was also involved in various social clubs, organizations and charities.

"Mr. Broeman was affiliated with the Queen City Club, the Coldstream Country Club, and the Metropolitan Club, all in Ohio. In Florida he was affiliated with the Ocean Reef Club, the Ocean Reef Breakfast Club, (co-founder) the Key Largo Anglers Club, the Ocean Reef Yacht Club and the Ocean Reef Health and Tennis Club.

"Dwight was survived by his wife 2) Marilyn, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

"Grandchildren: Dwight W. Broeman III (Diane), Lauren Broeman, Carrington W. Broeman, Charles W. Broeman III, C. Cuyler Brown (Julie), Bryan Broeman and Christopher Broeman (Megan).

"Great-grandchildren: Dwight W. Broeman IV and C. Cuyler Brown Jr.

"Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH."
