The former Wanona M. Murphy was born April 13, 1915, in Hunnewell, Mo., daughter of the late Orville and Mary (Zigert) Murphy, and was raised in Peoria, Ill. She graduated from Canton Senior High School in Canton, Ill.
Wanona worked as a waitress in Hurley for several years and at the Club 51 in Mercer. She was an avid reader, and loved going to the movies and going on car rides. She attended Range Community Bible Church in Hurley.
She was married to James Dahl on April 29, 1954, in Hurley. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Barbara (Leonard) Westeen, Bessemer; brother-in-law, Richard Dahl, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Wanona was preceded in death by her stepmother; one brother; and two sisters.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with Pastor Gerald Deppa officiating.
Committal will take place at the funeral home, with luncheon to follow at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley.
Private interment will be in the Hurley Cemetery
