Amon S. Chew first married (1) Elizabeth Guthrie, and had one son with her: William W. Chew. Elizabeth died shortly after this, and he then married (2) Mary Hancher - and had more children with her. Amon was good enough to put his first wife's name etched on his own tombstone - reading: "Eliza - died 18 Dec 1837". She also has a small marker next to his huge tombstone. Amon's parents were: William Chew (b. 1772, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland - and d. 1865, in Richland County, Ohio) and Lydia Ann Hancher (b. 1787 in Virginia, and d. 1855, in Richland County, Ohio.)
