Mrs. G. W. Thach Passes Away

Mrs. G. W. [George Washington] Thach [nee: Ann Patrick King], one of our pioneer citizens died Saturday morning at the home of her son, Mr. Jesse Thach, after an illness of three weeks duration. The cause of her death was heart trouble.

Funeral services were conducted at the family residence Sunday afternoon at four o'clock by Rev. Walter Harbin pastor of the Methodist church, of which she is a member.

Her body was laid to rest in the old family burying ground about a mile from town.

Deceased was born Jan. 7, 1859 at Jasper, Tennessee. She came to Texas in 1859 and in 1867 married Mr. G. W. Thach, the war time Sheriff of Milam county, who also fought in the Mexican war. Eight children were given to them, three of whom are living - Mrs. S. J. Doyle of Yarrellton, Mrs. Quinn Walker and Mr. Jesse Thach of this city.

She had twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Among those at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Isaacs, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McGuire, Mr. George Perry and Mrs. Sherar of Rockdale, Mr. Norwood and family of Hamilton; Messrs. S. J. Doyle and family, Hensey Maler, Ed Slater of Yarrellton and S. R. King of Houston.

Her's was a life in the Master's service and the Herald extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
