Eugenie Hayden, 98, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Cater Funeral Home in Moberly, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Donald of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Eddie of Kansas City; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Genie was the second child and only daughter born to Lynn Dana ROBINSON and Edyth Pansy WILMOT
Born in Binghamton, New York.

In 1910 3 year-old Eugenie is on the census in Owego, Tioga County New York with her parents, brother, and maternal grandmother. Her parents divorced in October 1910

She and her mother moved to Missouri, to live with her grandparents. Her grandfather was the station master at the Moberly train station.

Her brother, Aldis, stayed in New York, and lived with his father's sister and her husband.

In 1918 Genie's mother married Edward James MCWHINNIE in Moberly.

In 1920 13 year-old Eugenie is on the census in Moberly with her grandparents Emanuel and Harriet WILMOT.

19 JAN 1922 Genie's mother died age 39. Eight months later...
23 SEP 1923 Genie's grandfather died. Grandma told me he was found sitting in the rain beside his daughter's grave.
Three months later...
19 DEC 1923 Genie married Alfred William BROOKS. Genie & Al were 17 years-old.
Genie and Al lived with his parents on their farm in Cairo, Randolph County, Missouri. They had 3 sons:
1. James Richard BROOKS (1924-1994)
2. Donald Ross BROOKS (1926 - )
3. Edward Dana "Eddie" BROOKS (1929-2015)

1930 They are all on the census along with Genie's grandmother on the farm in Jackson Township, Randolph County. Genie and Al are 23 years-old.

In 1932 Genie's grandmother moved back to New York.
13 AUG 1932 25 year-old Genie and Al divorced.

Genie moved into Moberly and worked at the hair salon.

4 AUG 1934 27 year-old Genie married Sherman Lester HAYDEN in Macon, Missouri. This was Sherman's second marriage, too.

Genie and Sherman lived and worked on his farm in Jacksonville, Randolph County, Missouri. They sold certified seed and black angus cattle.

Genie was worthy matron of the Eastern Star, taught adult Sunday School and played piano at the Jacksonville Christian Church. She was involved in Grange and Extension Clubs. After Sherman retired they spent winters at Chain o' Lakes Park in Leesburg, Florida.

Sherman died in 1992.
